Rats, rabbits, guinea-pigs, mice and even a chinchilla strutted their stuff at the Surbiton Pet Club spring show on Saturday.
The club has been promoting pet care and helping children and families with their pets for more than 50 years.
Tim Brown, treasurer of Surbiton Pet Club, said though the club has struggled over the last few years it was keen to attract new members.
He said: "The spring show was a great success with 73 entries over 13 classes including rabbits, cavies, hamsters and any other pets.
"Judges were impressed with the cleanliness and handle ability of the pets and the children's knowledge of looking after them."
Owners on the day were nervous.
Youngster Stephanie Brown, said at least one of her two gerbils, sisters Pepper and Tango, should win.
She said: "They have made a lot of mess in the living room, my mum and my dad don't like that.
"At least one will come second or third because they are the best ever."
Eight-year-old Hermione Finch from Tudor Drive entered with her guinea pig Roxy.
She said: "I fell in love with her, she was the only one sitting in the corner at the pet shop.
"I've been brushing her all day, she's really healthy, looks clean and there are no knots in her fur."
Hermione's mother used to belong to the club when she was a teenager.
She said the club served a worthwhile purpose.
"It encourages them to brush them and clean them out," she said.
"The club offers reduced price food and bedding for the pets."
Mr Brown hopes more pet lovers will be encouraged to join.
He said: "Anyone wishing to join should visit the club in Stirling Walk, Surbiton, when its stores are open on Saturday afternoon from 3-5pm or Sundays between 10.30am and 11.30am. Family membership is just £3 a year.
